CMS - Blogs Web logs, or blogs as they have become to be known, are the current 'fashion' within the online world. From Gulf war experiences, to checking the progress of your books on Amazon and reading about the day of Giant Co's CEO had, blogs are proving to be very popular. Even the marketing crowd are discovering the usefulness of blogs for selling their products and getting their site up in the rankings of search engines.
Based on a protocol called RSS (nobody seems to precisely know what RSS stands for but Really Simple Syndication seems as good as any), blogs are normally delivered as XML which is then translated by the site into a date-based web blog. The fact that they are XML means that a blog can be used elsewhere and this is one of the reasons blogs are becoming so popular. Like forums before them, blog software comes in many forms, most often with backend databases delivering the saved blog as the interested party wants to read it.
Finally and not least, the blog or news feed can be 'live bookmarked' by the latest browsers so that all the latest stories can be viewed by title without the person even viewing the site. A great way to keep people informed! |
